Do
you like the <Pizza Pinwheels> that I’m sharing today? They are cute,
aren’t they? Well, making these
<Pizza Pinwheels> is very simple and they taste yummy too because the recipe
uses puff pastry as a base instead of a regular pizza dough. And to make them
look even more special, they were rolled up like Swiss Roll!
The
time I finished taking these photos, 1/3 of them had gone & at the end of
the day, we felt a bit sick because for being eating too much, haha! So, to be
honest, this recipe is good to be used when you are holding a party so everyone
can have a few pieces of it & that ends a story. Alternatively, you can
simply reduce the ingredients by 1/2 to feed a small family like us!
风车比萨
Pizza Pinwheels
(Recipe Source: Jessie-CookingMoments)
Makes 36 Pizza Pinwheels, abt 4.5cm – 5cm in diameter
Ingredients:
3 Store-bought Puff Pastry (24cm x 24cm), thawed
60g Tomato Paste/ Pizza Paste
Some Egg Wash
Fillings:
150g Shredded Ham
30g Grated Parmesan Cheese
30g Grated Mozzarella Cheese
50g Brown Onions, chopped
¼ Red Capsicum
¼ Yellow Capsicum
4tbsp Corn Kernels
15g Fresh Parsley
1/2tbsp Dried Mixed Herbs
Method:
1. Mix all filling ingredients together.
2. Grab 1 sheet of the short crust pastry. Brush the top with
1.5-2tbsp of pizza sauce, leaving a 2cm edge untouched at one side. Sprinkle with
some filling ingredients.
3. Roll up like a Swiss roll & brush some egg wash on the
untouched edge, roll up to seal. Cut into 12 equal pieces. Place on a lined
tray.
Tip:
Wipe the knife after each cut & act quick before the
pastry becomes too soft to be handled, this will make the cutting job harder.
4. Repeat for the rest of the puff pastry.
5. Bake in the 180C-preheated oven until golden. Serve hot.
BIG TIP:
Thaw the frozen puff pastry in the last minute when everything else is done. It only takes about 5 minutes to thaw in summer. When pastry becomes too soft, the rolling up job will become harder & messy! If this happens, put them back to the freezer to harden a bit, then use is very quickly.

Sausage & Tomato Stew
For a reason, I like to cook this <Sausage & Tomato
Stew> on the weekend. My children
love to eat them with thin spaghetti whereas my hubby & I used them to make
sandwich. Either way will end up with an empty plate!
This is a great dish to be cooked on the weekend when
everyone in your family is at home or for a party!

Hello Jessie,
ReplyDeleteOooo.....recently I happened to see one of the food blogger also making similar pizza rolls. This is so good for breakfast and even for lunch too! Stew is something that I always love....as I find this dish is so easy to cook (for a lazy person like me!) Your sausage tomato stew serve well with baguette too ~ just great!
Mel, you are No. 1 again, haha! Is it easy to find frozen puff pastry in your place? Puff pastry can be used to make many yummy snack, just that they are quite fattening, haha!
DeleteJessie, two yummy dishes! I really excited to try the pinwheel pizza. It seem quiet easy but don't know lah whether I can roll it properly. The sausage stew also looks delicious. I would prefer it with spaghetti :)
ReplyDeletePhong Hong, biggest tip is don't thaw your puff pastry too early. This in summer time only take about 5 minutes to thaw, so last minute only take it out of the freezer to thaw. After that, quick quick roll up. Once they are too soft, you won't be able to work so smoothly. Speaking of this, I should put my tip up there!
